Mari Nakata is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Healthcare Practice in Japan, bringing to her client work more than 18 years of leadership experience at one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Japan. Mari focuses on senior-level executive recruiting across the healthcare value chain for pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, service providers, healthcare technology and health insurance companies.
An experienced generalist with a mind for process improvement
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Mari was vice president, head of HR excellence and capability enhancement for Astellas Pharma.
- Among her responsibilities, Mari supported executive and board hiring and onboarding. She also was credited with significantly improving internal HR communications and has gracefully supporting CEO transitions and transformation planning.
- Mari began her career as a researcher in Astellas Pharma pharmacology lab.
Mari is fluent in both Japanese and English and has been published in a number of publications as a first author and co-author. She possesses a Ph.D in medical science from Juntendo University and BA in veterinary science from the University of Tokyo and is a licensed DVM in Japan.
