William Foley leads Spencer Stuart’s global Banking Practice. He is also a core member of the firm’s Private Equity Practice. He brings to his work more than 20 years of experience advising financial services companies on board and leadership recruitment, succession and human capital strategy.

William has an extensive track record in executive search with a focus on investment banking, capital markets and financing across bulge bracket, middle-market and boutique investment banking firms across EMEA, the US and APAC. He has worked with private equity and alternative assets firms, with an emphasis on strategies including credit investing, special situations, distressed debt and direct lending.

Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, William was the global co-leader of investment banking and capital markets at another global executive search firm, specialising in searches for senior leaders, including CEOs, for investment banks, private equity, hedge fund and private equity-backed clients.

He has also led M&A/corporate development searches for corporations across all sectors across the globe.
William received a B.A. (honours) in history of art from University of Manchester and an M.Sc. (honours) in international management for Japan from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
