Based in Stamford and New York, Eric Leventhal is the head of the Americas region for Spencer Stuart, responsible for practices and offices in North America and Latin America. Previously, he ran the firm’s global Consumer Practice. He works with consumer companies and private equity clients in the areas of leadership advisory and executive search for boards, CEOs and division presidents.

General management and marketing expertise

  • Prior to joining Spencer Stuart in 2006, Eric was president of Evian North America and subsequently president of Danone Beverages North America. Previously, he held the position of senior vice president of marketing for Dannon, where he was responsible for the company’s brand management, new product development, advertising, packaging, public relations and consumer affairs functions.
  • Earlier in his career he held marketing and general management positions at Kraft Foods, The Coca-Cola Company and Campbell Soup Company.
  • Eric has been featured as a consumer industry expert in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, BusinessWeek, Advertising Age and The Chief Executive, for which he authored the widely-read article, “5 Things You Should Know Before Becoming a New Private Equity CEO.” He has also appeared on Fox Business Network and CNBC.

Eric earned a B.A. in psychology at Tufts University and an M.B.A. in marketing and management at Columbia Graduate School of Business. For eight years, he served on the board of directors for Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, and currently serves on the board of God’s Love We Deliver, a non-sectarian organization providing meals to those with life-altering illness. He is an avid runner, having completed five marathons and dozens of half-marathons. Eric and his family reside in Westchester County, New York.
