François Reyntens is a core member of Spencer Stuart’s Legal, Compliance & Government Affairs Practice and the leader of the Family Business Practice in EMEA. François has extensive experience in navigating board and governance matters, having been involved in facilitating transition at board and executive committee levels. Having been a general counsel, François has an intimate understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by the legal function. He is recruiting general counsels, chief compliance officers, corporate secretaries, head of public affairs (and their direct reports) throughout continental Europe.
Broad-based legal and governance expertise
- Before joining Spencer Stuart, François led the legal affairs department as general counsel for Elia, an international utility and infrastructure group based in Brussels, where he was involved in corporate finance transactions, strategic international projects and sensitive compliance and dispute resolution matters.
- Earlier, François was a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group and spent 10 years as a business lawyer with large, international law firms in London and Brussels.
- François is a frequent speaker on topics including the future and current trends of the legal, compliance and public affairs professions as well as governance matters.
François earned his master of general management degree from Vlerick Business School (cum laude); his master in law (magna cum laude) at Université de Louvain and an executive management program at IESE. François is fluent in French, English and Dutch.
