Nicholas Schmidt is a member of Spencer Stuart’s global Financial Services Practice, working out of the Santiago office. He leads the firm’s efforts in financial services and professional services in Chile, focusing in particular on investment banking, wealth management, consumer financial services, private equity, insurance and real estate.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Nicholas spent five years with Santander, where he led the equity capital markets division and started the equity derivatives and commodities division for Santander Chile. As corporate finance executive director for Santander, he led transactions in the telecom, technology, energy and infrastructure industries. Prior to this, Nicholas led the corporate finance team at Celfin, a leading local banking investment firm. He also worked in the Atlanta office of McKinsey & Company.
Nicholas is a native of Chile and speaks fluent Spanish, English and Portuguese. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and a M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
