Helen Tantau brings to Spencer Stuart more than 20 years of experience in the executive search, banking, public relations and market entry consulting fields in China. A member of the Industrial and Consumer Goods & Services practices, Helen focuses on senior recruitment in the industrial, automotive, packaged goods, retail and emerging markets sectors.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Helen served with another leading executive search firm for 13 years, first as a Shanghai consultant and then as managing director of the firm’s Thailand and Indochina business. Before entering the search industry, she was the Shanghai chief representative for Batey Burn, a British consultancy specializing in investment, government relations and retail tracking in China. Helen has also worked with Standard Chartered Bank’s China Division as its public relations and retail banking manager for China, and with the Australian Trade Commission’s Shanghai office.
Born in Melbourne, Helen received a bachelor’s degree in Chinese studies from La Trobe University, and undertook postgraduate studies in Shanghai and Beijing. She speaks and reads both Mandarin and Cantonese.
Helen is a former board member for the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. In Thailand, she was co-chair of the HR Committee for the American Chamber of Commerce, as well as secretary for the Soroptimists of Dusit.
