Kathryn Sugerman is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s New York office and a member of the firm’s Healthcare Services, Life Sciences and Diversity practices. With more than 16 years of healthcare experience, both as a senior leader at a healthcare research and consulting firm and a nurse clinician, Kathryn specializes in the fields of healthcare, education, not-for-profit, and managed care.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Kathryn was a managing director at The Advisory Board Company, a D.C.-based firm providing business strategy, finance, operations, and general management best practice research, and IT and consulting services to the healthcare industry. In this capacity, Kathryn established senior hospital executive relationships across the country, and led the business development efforts for the firm’s consulting practice.
Kathryn began her healthcare career as a surgical and transplant staff nurse at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. After returning for her master’s degree, Kathryn worked as a nurse practitioner in pediatric gastroenterology at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. In this advanced practice role, Kathryn accelerated the division’s growth in the volume of new and returning patients, co-led clinical trials and research publications, and furthered the roles and responsibilities of the nurse practitioner throughout the organization.
Kathryn is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Nursing, where she earned both her B.S.N. and M.S.N. degrees. She also holds an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where she was awarded the prestigious Austin Scholarship.
