Fernando Carneiro manages the Spencer Stuart operations in Latin America, and heads the firm's Financial Services and Private Equity Practices for Brazil and Latin America. He is also a member of the Board & CEO Practice, which he co-heads in Brazil. He specializes in recruiting and assessing senior executives for banks, private equity firms, insurance companies and asset management companies. He frequently engages in international assignments, recruiting leaders and board members for distinguished companies around the globe. His search experience also includes recruiting partners and principals for professional services companies, as well as CFOs for local and multinational corporations.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart in 2003, Fernando worked for two years as the head of Financial Services in Brazil for another international search firm. Previously, he had the opportunity to work at both Brazilian and International financial services companies (Citibank, Banco BMC and Caixa), leading different business units which included retail banking, cards, internet banking, corporate banking and insurance distribution. He led products and marketing areas and served as a board member for three different companies. Fernando also served as executive director for the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban). Prior to that, Fernando worked for two management consulting firms (Booz Allen and Arthur D. Little), where he focused on strategy, valuation and organizational design for the financial services industry.
Fernando earned a bachelor's degree in production engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and a post graduate degree in business administration from COPPEAD/Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
