Alvan Turner co-leads Spencer Stuart's global Automotive Practice. His clients include a diverse range of multinational manufacturers and distributors of automotive and industrial products, as well as other companies dealing with significant manufacturing, logistics, purchasing and distribution issues. Searches typically include board directors, CEOs, COOs, division presidents and their direct reports.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Alvan spent 15 years with McKinsey & Company. In addition to serving industrial and consumer durables clients on strategy, organization, operations, sourcing, supply chain and other issues, he was active in consultant training and, over a four-year period, led the firm's recruiting efforts at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Most recently he led a group of investors and managers in acquiring and managing small manufacturing and distribution companies.
Alvan received a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University, a master of science from Michigan State University, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
He also served in the United States Marine Corps for four years before resigning his regular commission as a captain.
